Community Correspondents

sandhya

I was born and raisied in the neighbourhood known as Shell Colony in Chembur, Mumbai. My family consists of my father and mother, my two brothers and my sister. I am a 12th grade student studying Commerce at K.J. Somaiya College. I was always interested in the art of film-making and when a friend who used to be a community producer introduced to the NGO Akshara who is involved in making community videos, I jumped at the chance to participate. I find that making our own films on our own social problems and using them as a medium of social change is a very unique and effective idea. I have already participated in the videos named ‘Impact 103’ about the emergency women’s helpline number and ‘Soch Sahi, Mard Vahi’ on masculinity. In the future, I hope to make the best of this opportunity that VV has given me and to grow into a free-thinking individual.
