For most, the communal violence ended with the last embers of the riots. But for Mudassar Ali, a tribal muslim from Panch Mahal, Gujarat the horror persists not just within him but from without. For him and his community, the shame of being mocked and discriminated against by the majority religion and the danger of yet another eruption of savagery is a daily reality. Mudassar, an experienced media activist, who has worked extensively with video and rural children, wants to narrate these dystopian experiences of his community and in doing so, rally for a change that has taken the country a long time coming.
