Emiliya Hansda

36-year-old Emiliya from Pakur district is one of the most experienced CCs in terms of work experience as a social activist. During her decade long association with Ekta Parishad, she has worked on issues of land, forests and water rights. Growing from strength to strength, Emiliya also teaches the girls in her village for free. Like the case often is in Jharkhand, people with work profile’s like Emiliya’s are targeted by the State Police. In 2013, a false case was registered against her alleging she is a Maoist. She wants to work on the issue of Maoism and conflict in her region and tell its real story, the one that she and her people live, because outsiders most certainly get it wrong.
