Community Correspondents

Pranabesh Maiti

hails from Sagar islands of South Bengal, inhabited by farmers and fisher folk. Pranabesh got an opportunity to live his childhood dream of being a teacher & writer when he began working with ‘Amader Prerona’ an organization that works on advocacy and awareness on gender and environment. In his free time, he teaches underprivileged children who are unable to afford an education. As a Community Correspondent, Pranabesh wishes to highlight how annual monsoon flooding forces his people to live in knee-deep water several months of the year. He believes that if the world knew how his people are forced to use buckets instead of toilets, it would surely sit up and take notice of their situation. He also wants to take up stories of malnutrition, lack of access to education, and the savage destruction of the Sundarbans.
