Geeta Kumari comes from Giridih district, a part of the ‘Red Corridor’ in Jharkhand that has seen some of the worst affects of the Naxal movement. Before joining Video Volunteers she worked with ‘Jago Foundation’. As a Panchayat Coordinator she worked toraise issues like the mass displacement of local communities due to mining and land acquisition programs in her region. Geeta feels that with the power of the camera in her hand, she won’t have to stop at highlighting these issues but will be also able to resolve them, bringing justice to her people.
