Despite being the city of apples, women in Himachal Pradesh suffer from Anaemia.
Anaemia refers to the deficiency of blood in a body. This deficiency is found due to lack of Iron which is an indispensable element of the haemoglobin and proteins present in the blood. The haemoglobin count goes very low in anaemic people. Anaemia if not treated can turn into serious health related problems yet one of the main supplements in the diet of a person with anaemia should be apples.
Himachal Pradesh, being a land where apples are grown has an increasing number of women suffering from anaemia and most of those who suffer are unaware that they have this problem because they do not visit doctors. These women will mostly be the apple pickers or those that have apple farms.
