Community Correspondent Shikha Paharin's sister-in-law, Munni Paharin gave birth to a baby boy at the district hospital of Sahebganj in 2014. According to the Janani Suraksha Yojana, all women below poverty line are entitled to free and cashless deliveries at government-run health facilities. However, at the district hospital Munni was forced to pay Rs 300 by the auxilary nurse midwife (ANM). The ANMs continued to ask more money, even after they paid up. Members of Munni's community say this is common practice.
