The Long Wait for a Pension

Life often throws unexpected plans one's way, changing those that had been meticulously laid out before. Tapan Sagaria had worked as a wage labourer to support his family of 6 until 2 years ago when in an accident he lost the use of one leg. Tapan is technically eligible for the Madhu babu Pension Scheme which is sponsored by the Government of Odisha. Under the scheme he would receive Rs 200 a month, hardly enough to earn a living but better than nothing. He has tried twice now to enroll himself on the list but has been unsuccessful. The responsibility of providing for the family has now fallen on Tapan's barely adult son. Tapan however refuses to give up, he has now enlisted Community Correspondent Abhishek Das as an ally and together they plan on ensuring that Tapan will get his pension. Call to Action: Please call the Social Extension Officer, Mr Duryodhan Bisi on 09439847295 and ask him to ensure that Tapan Sagaria gets his disability pension.
