MGNREGA Disappoints Again

IndiaUnheard Community Correspondent, Saroj Paraste reports on yet another case where people have been denied their right to work under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. 20 families in Gaura village in Madhya Pradesh have been denied of their unemployment allowances. In the absence of a job under MGREGA, the people asked the secretary of the village about the allowances, he said they will get it within few days. The secretary never came back. "I took a loan to get my younger daughter married. It has become difficult for me to feed my family now", says Phul Bai, one of the individuals denied the allowance.
