Farmers from Bongvali village of Pune district in Maharashtra are losing their land to a money lender who cheats them on the pretext of helping them out during times of crisis. Sitaram Shevram Surve keeps a farmer's land as mortgage against loans and when the farmer goes to return the money which is usually a small amount, he refuses and gobbles their land instead. In this video, CC Rohini Pawar interviews Kashinath Bate, a farmer whose land was recently grabbed by the Surve family in a similar fashion. On further inquiry, she finds more of his victims and cases dating as long back as 9 years.
Rohini appeals viewers to please call the District Collector of Pune on +912026114949 and ask him to help the farmers get back their land.
