Mourning in Mount Abu: Garasia Tribe | Living Cultures – Episode 2

The Garasia tribe believe that their God clawed out a lake in the mountain with his fingernails.

The oldest inhabitants of Mount Abu immerse fingernails of their deceased loved ones in the Nakki Lake. The Garasia tribe is one of the most colourful and culturally rich communities in the desert state of Rajasthan and the lake is in the center of their beliefs and customs. They believe that God clawed out this lake in the mountain with his fingernails.
