The Drain That Drowned the Village

Overflowing garbage and waste has clogged the drains of Sayala village in Surendranagar District, Gujarat. The stench is unbearable, say the residents. The unsanitary conditions put the health and well-being of children who attend the nearby Anganwadi in danger. The village sarpach has been repeatedly petition by the villagers to fix the drainage issue but he has kept the matter pending. The dam at Kothida, Bharud Pura, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh took just a year to get a crack. More than 11 surrounding villages are at risk now due to this leakage and residents are asked to vacate the area.
