Delwara, Rajasthan Is A Model For Women Empowerment

Our Community Correspondent Shambhu Raj Tanwar brings to us a positive story of women empowerment from his community in Delwara. Usually, a majority of government positions in India are occupied by men. The ratio of men to women in such positions is heavily titled in the favour of men. However, it is different in Delwara, Rajasthan.

Shambhu reports that the Tehsildar, Block Development Officer, Sarpanch, Principal of the largest government school in Delwara and even the Manager of the local branch of State Bank of India (India's largest bank) are all women. It is encouraging to see women running important government positions in Delwara.

"It is God's gift that women are able to successfully manage both their work and home and are much more patient in tackling challenges. I would like to say to women that don't think of yourself as lesser than others. You have the potential to rise, if you have the passion for it, you can succeed in any field," said Hukum Kanwar, the Tehsildar of Delwara.
