Jharkhand Misses Goals, Villages Still Without Water

In 2012-2013 the Government of India released Rs.9.173 Crores towards the National Rural Drinking Water Programme. The scheme aims to provide safe water in a sustained way to all rural families. Jharkhand was among the worst performing states and met only 45% of its targets. Amit Topno takes us to one such village that still does not have water.

For the 20 families of Khaswatoli Village, Torpa Block in Jharkhand access to water is a daily challenge. Since the village has no hand-pump the residents walk far away to get water from a hand-pump in a school. In summers the search for water takes them even further since most hand-pumps dry up. The situation has been the same for the past decade.

The residents of the village ask you to lend support and help them get a working hand-pump.

Call to Action: Please call Johan Topno Village council Head on 09430188892 and ask him to install a hand-pump in Khaswatoli immediately.
