The Ration of families in Bihar rationed

Over 1000 people from a village are being cheated out of their rations in Jaganathpur, Bihar. The majority of these families elong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.  These families hold an Antyodaya Ration Cards which makes them eligible for 20 kg of rice and 15 kg of wheat as ration.

Antyodaya Anna Yojana(AAY) is a Government of India sponsored scheme to provide highly subsidised food to millions of the poorest families in the country. Under this scheme, they can get rice, oil, kerosene etc. at lower rates from the Public Distribution System Shop.

But in Jagannathpur, these poor families are not getting any benefits of this scheme and have to work very hard to buy food. These families have already lost their houses in river erosion and have no hope of getting any help from the government.

Community Correspondent Tanju Devi, who comes from a family of similar background had herself faced this problem and understands the hardship of these rural families.Hence she wants this video to reach the concerned authorities so that proper action can be taken to ensure that these families are given their full ration.
