Manthan Award South Asia, 2009
The goal of the Manthan Award South Asia is to showcase the content that already exists online and thus demonstrate the richness and diversity of content creativity to those interested in understanding and planning the Global Information Society. Business Plan Competition, 2007
Video Volunteers was announced as a winner of the Business Plan Competition put on by the NYU Stern School of Business Berkley Center. This was a wonderful recognition of our model to accelerate social change. The prize was $60,000, and access to office space and other resources through their Incubator Program. Development Gateway Award, December, 2006
Video Volunteers was announced as a finalist in the 2006 Development Gateway Award. In 2006, the Award was focused on Youth, and Video Volunteers was recognized for the work we and our partners have achieved in engaging and training youth within our Community Video Units. Laureate of the Tech Museum Awards, 2006
The Tech Museum Awards is an international awards program that honors innovators from around the world who are applying technology to benefit humanity. Video Volunteers was awarded a Tech Award in the Equality category and became a member of the Laureate network. For more information click here.
·Trained a total of 300 Community Producers. Of this group more than 100 are working full-time, reporting on underreported stories across 1000 villages in almost every state in India.
·Held over 2,200 nighttime community screenings, attended by over 300,000 people. Thousands more have viewed these videos online around the world.
·Enabled 17,000 people to take action and implement local solutions, directly benefiting 635,000people and giving voice to millions more.
·Instrumental in making community media a key factor in India’s social change agenda, as demonstrated by 300+ partnership applications from local and international NGOs and more than$500,000 invested by NGOs in starting programs we have designed.
