Sharda, Community Producer, Aapna Malak Maa wrote about the impact of her film. We have translated it into English for you.
Sonalben lives in Choraniya village of Limbdi Taluka. Her husband used to beat her up after getting drunk. He also gave her a lot of mental trauma.
In the meanwhile, Apna Malak Maa team screened the film on de-addiction in a night screening on 30th January, 2008. The film ended with a Call to Action which said that if any person is consuming alcohol, you can call the police station in Limbdi Taluka. After watching this film Sonalben got to know that she can complaint against her husband in the police station and can get him to reform. She thought about this and went back home.
The next day, Sonalben’s husband came home drunk again. Sonalben thought that she has to go to the police station and complain if she wants her husband to stop drinking.
After that, on the pretext of going to toilet she straight away went to the Limbdi police station and complained to Police Inspector, Mr. Vyas and told about her suffering. The police inspector arrested her husband. After that Sonalben herself went there to get him released. He was released soon after. After this, her husband stopped drinking and harassing her. Sonalben took this bold step after watching the film and it surely changed her life for better!
