Maal, which is a remote village in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district is home to many elderly people. These elderly people were eligible for old-age pension but weren't receiving it. In the whole taluka, there were several other beneficiaries like orphans, differently abled people, widows and elderly people who weren't getting their pensions.
Our Community Correspondent Chetan Salve worked with the community and the local tehsildar to get everyone's pension scheme started. The pension amount for elderly people was also increased from the usual Rs. 600 to Rs. 1000 per month. Although, the elderly people say this amount isn't enough, but they are still happy that regular pension has started.
