Unfair Power Cuts Despite Paying Bills

Our community correspondent Khurban Damor from Jhabua district reports the story of Moripada village.

Moripada villagers of Jhabua district, MP has had irregular supply of electricity for a long time due to which the papaya cultivation has been severely affected. Despite paying the bill on time, the electricity supply was cut because of absolute carelessness by the electricity department.

The lack of regular and reliable access to electricity retards economic development in these regions. It seems like India’s quest to brighten its vast landscape has been nothing less than a failure.

About the Partnership: The Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) Programme and Video Volunteers have come together to create the Community Correspondents Network. The videos generated by the network will be able to highlight voices from the margins, providing skills to social communicators to provide advocacy tools to community based organisations.
