This man alone has lost crops in 6 acres of his field. The administration does temporary work and every year the same story is repeated.

Tea garden workers from #Alipurduar in North Bengal migrated to cities in search of employment. The tea estate in which they worked is shut since 2014.

With the lockdown enforcement due to #COVID19 they had to return to their villages.

They work in the tea garden on a smaller scale, but low wages and irregular work makes it unsustainable for them.

Despite being in possession of job cards, they do not get the minimum 100 days of work guaranteed under #MGNREGA.

A group of tribal families who are amongst the ear

A group of tribal families who are amongst the early settlers in Koderma, #Jharkhand do not have access to even the most basic facilities like water and a house with electricity.

Some were disbursed with a sum that were allotted to them under a government housing scheme. But the full amount is yet to come. What they have is not enough for them to build a permanent residential structure.

During rains, their hut leaks and they are just about surviving.

Our community correspondent Mst Soriya Banu reports from Malda, #WestBengal that the district has seen a spurt in #Coronavirus infections.

Hence, despite the relaxation in lockdown, the local administration has not allowed anything beyond the essential services.

Marriages are a big economy churner in any part of India, and here in Malda, a large no. of people associated with the sector have been sitting jobless at home.

PM #NarendraModi, in his address to the nation, an

PM #NarendraModi, in his address to the nation, announced that the free ration scheme running since the #Covid19 lockdown will be extended until the end of November 2020.

It is a good move, considering the fact that the nation is still inching back to normalcy and is restarting economic activities, albeit with caution.

However, what he failed to address is the fact that many poor and marginalised sections of our country do not possess a ration card. How will they get the benefit of such government schemes? Does the government have a plan in place to provide for these people?

Our video story from #Bihar tracks the issuance of ration cards to villagers of West Champaran, where they were promised ration cards within seven days, but it has been months and they are still waiting.
