School Open and Still Awaiting Teachers

A crippling lack of teachers is endangering the future of students across government schools in rural India. A government primary school in Jagdarpur, Bastar District, Chhattisgarh has been declared open for the past academic year. However, it still does not have teachers in place. Teachers from a neighboring high school do double shifts as teachers in the primary school. Teachers are still holding on to the promise of Block Education Officer that teachers will soon be appointed. But the students are losing out on valuable years of their life. Community Correspondent Ramjag reports.
