Impact: Camera Unites Community to Fight Corruption

50 families in the community were being cheated by the local ration dealer in charge of the village public distribution shop. While some got rations lesser than the monthly quota, others got no ration at all.

Through her video, Community correspondent Gayatri, gathered the community and the village headman together to fight the corruption they all faced.

Manoj Kumar, the village head, is familiar with the issues that Gayatri reports on as he has helped the community overcome several challenges that have been brought to his notice through Gayatri's camera. He once again pledged his support to resolving this new issue.

During a community screening and meeting, they decided that they would write and application to the Block Development Officer. Following the submission of this application and video evidence an investigation team arrived in the village within 10 days.

The investigators went and spoke to the affected residents once more; checking through the ration dealers registers, they were able to corroborated the various instances of corruption that had been reported.

The contractor's license was immediately canceled and a contractor from the neighbouring village was appointed to start distributing rations immediately.
