Farmers fear losing their land to sports complex project

Buldhana, Maharashtra| Vinod Wankhede

In Wadi budruk village, Buldhana district, Maharashtra farming land which belongs to communities belonging to backward classes is being acquired by the government for the development of a sports complex. Residents have written to the authorities opposing the project over and over again. However their appeals have not been heard. The occupants of this land are mostly farmers and stand the risk of losing their livelihoods if the government goes ahead with the project. They have been cultivating this land for 30-35 years, however, they have not received receipts for land pattas from the teshildar. “ Is it fair to clamp down on the homes and livelihoods of the poor to make sports complexes for the children of the rich?” asks one resident

Please call the district collector of Buldhana district, Maharashtra on +91 7262242307 and appeal to him to protect the residents of Wadi Budruk village from eviction due to the proposed project.
