Why do these 500 students have just 2 teachers?

Kodahi village, Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh | Ghanshyam

"I want more teachers to be appointed in this school so that we can all study," says Gaurav, a student in the 5th grade of this primary school. In the absence of the required number of teachers, there is complete chaos here. According to the Right to Education Act 2009, there should be 1 teacher for every 30 students at a primary school. By that logic, there should be at least 16 here.

Further, of the 8 classrooms here barely any can actually be used because they are falling apart.

Call to Action: Please call the Basic Education Officer of Bahraich District on +91 9453004135 and ask him to ensure that more teachers are appointed at this school.
