Jessica Mayberry, Founding Director:

Jessica Mayberry, Founder and Director

Jessica is the Founder of Video Volunteers, which she started in 2003. She gained her experience in community media while working as a Trainer for Video SEWA, the ‘barefoot’ video cooperative of the Self Employed Women’s Association, a leading Indian NGO. Prior to that, Jessica worked for three years in broadcast news at CNN and the Fox News Channel, and in documentaries for Court TV. She graduated from Oxford University with a B.A. and a M.A. in History and French Literature.

Stalin K, India Director

Stalin K. is a documentary filmmaker and human rights activist from Gujarat, India. He is the Director and Co-Founder of Drishti Media Arts and Human Rights, the partner organization of Video Volunteers. Drishti is an internationally recognized media group working for the democratization and demystification of media.

Stalin has directed 12 documentaries and has won several international awards for his films. He has produced six community radio programs, designed more than 15 rights-based campaigns and conducted over 150 trainings in filmmaking and participatory video, street theatre, radio production, and development communications.

Stalin is the Convenor of the Community Radio Forum-India, and his film work on the issues of Untouchability has helped bring international attention to Dalit issues. He teaches communications, film and grassroots activism at a number of the most senior institutes in India and has lectured at Berkeley, Stanford and NYU, among other institutions.

Karin Bauer - Ms. Bauer was eBay’s first international product manager, launching eBay UK and eBay Canada in 1999, as well as serving on the Governance Committee. She serves on the Board of Governors for the Commonwealth Club of California, the Development Council for the Walter A. Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and the Advisory Board for the Humane Society Silicon Valley.

Kathy Eldon - Ms. Eldon is the Founder of Creative Visions Foundation, author of sixteen books, and the Executive Producer of the Emmy nominated documentary Dying to Tell the Story and the PBS series Global Tribe. Creative Visions Foundation is the Fiscal Sponsor of Video Volunteers. By being a part of Creative Visions Foundation, VV will be able to reach traditional broadcasters as well.

Eva Haller - Ms. Haller sits on the Board of numerous international organizations, including The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, Free the Children, Counterpart International and The Medici Foundation and brings years of fundraising experience to Video Volunteers.

Jurriaan Kamp - Mr Kamp is the former chief economics editor of NRC Handelsblad, a prominent Dutch newspaper, and the co-founder of the international newsmagazine Ode (www.odemagazine.com). He has published various books in The Netherlands.

Francesca Kress, Ph.D - Dr. Kress is a clinical psychologist with a private practice in New York City and Warwick, New York. She is a member of the board of the Jericho Project, American Classical Orchestra, and the Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian at the Customs House in New York.

Albert Maysles - Mr. Maysles is the Academy Award nominated director of such legendary documentaries as Salesman, Grey Gardens, and Gimme Shelter. His vision will ensure VV films are compelling to large audiences.

John N. Mayberry - Mr. Mayberry is president of Core Asset Management Company, a registered investment adviser with offices in New York City and Sausalito. A graduate of Swarthmore College and the Yale School, he is on the board of Planned Parenthood of New York City, the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina, and the Medici Archive Project in New York.

Michael Rosenblum - For more than 18 years, Mr. Rosenblum has been on the cutting edge of the digital ‘videojournalist’ revolution, including the launch of the VJ-driven model for BBC, The Voice of America, New York Times TV, Time/Warner’s New York 1, Associated Newspapers (UK) London based Channel 1, Young Broadcasting stations in the US, Switzerland’s largest commercial TV broadcaster, TeleZuri, as well as a host of smaller projects such as Eritrea’s ERI-TV and Sri Lanka’s SLBC. His consulting clients include The BBC, TV-24/Germany, TV4/Sweden, Oxygen Media, BBC, KBC, TVL, Danmarks Radio (DK), TV-3 Sweden, Norway & Denmark, Tokyo Broadcasting, Korea Broadcasting. As a producer, Rosenblum has produced or overseen production on more than 300 hours of programming for both network and cable, which have aired on TLC, Showtime and National Geographic. He has also produced for ABC, CBS, Oxygen and the BBC. Most recently his groundbreaking 5Takes series for Discovery has completely rewritten the production paradigm. He is an adjunct professor of communication at New York University, where he teaches “Television and the Information Revolution”, a course of his own design, and at The Bauhaus in Germany. His Brussels based Rosenblum Institute trains European journalists to work as VJs.

Davia Temin - Ms. Temin, President and CEO of strategic marketing, public affairs and
crisis management consultancy Temin and Company, helps to create, enhance
and save reputations for some of the world’s leading corporations and
organizations. Previously head of corporate marketing of GE Capital, she
serves on the Board of the Girl Scouts USA, the White House Project, Women’s Enews and other media organizations.
