Board of Directors
Kathy Eldon – Ms. Eldon is the Founder of Creative Visions Foundation, author of sixteen books, and the Executive Producer of the Emmy nominated documentary Dying to Tell the Story and the PBS series Global Tribe. Creative Visions Foundation was the Fiscal Sponsor of Video Volunteers.
Eva Haller – Ms. Haller sits on the Board of numerous international organizations, including The University of California Santa Barbara Foundation, The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, Counterpart International , and The Medici Foundation. She is currently Chairwoman of Video Volunteers, Free the Children, Sing for Hope, and Creative Visions, and brings years of fundraising experience to Video Volunteers.
Jurriaan Kamp – Mr Kamp is the former chief economics editor of NRC Handelsblad, a prominent Dutch newspaper, and the co-founder of the international newsmagazine Ode Magazine. He has published various books in The Netherlands.
Stalin K. – Stalin K. is a media and human rights activist, with 18 years experience pioneering new models of participatory media, such as street theater, community radio, campaign design, documentary filmmaking, and community video. In 1991 he co-founded Drishti, a media, arts and human rights organization based in India and was its Director till September 2008. Stalin is one of the leading voices to democratize India’s airwaves and has been in the forefront of the fight for communities’ right to own and run their own radio stations. He was the key trainer and strategist for the most successful community radio project in India and was part of a team that drafted much of the new Community Radio Policy in operation today. He is the National Convener of the Community Radio Forum-India, a membership network of more than 100 organizations.
He is an award-winning filmmaker and activist focused on issues of caste and communal violence, and has represented civil society in forums with the Prime Minister of India. He is frequently called upon by Indian and international foundations to advise on their strategies for creating change in India, and has lectured at universities including Stanford, Harvard, Yale and many others.
Francesca Kress, Ph.D – Dr. Kress is a clinical psychologist with a private practice in New York City and Warwick, New York. She is a member of the board of the Jericho Project, American Classical Orchestra, and the Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian at the Customs House in New York.
Albert Maysles – Mr. Maysles is the Academy Award nominated director of such legendary documentaries as Salesman, Grey Gardens, and Gimme Shelter. His vision ensures VV films are compelling to large audiences.
John N. Mayberry – Jack Mayberry is the Chairman of Core Asset Management Company Before joining Core, Jack practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, a New York corporate law firm and specialized in anti-trust and securities litigation. He is a member of the bar of the State of New York. Jack received a BA with honors in Greek and Latin from Swarthmore College and earned a JD from Yale Law School. He has been a member of the board of Planned Parenthood of New York City(PPNYC) since 1991, co-chair from 1995–1997 and Treasurer and Secretary from 1997–1998. Since 1998, he has been a member of the investment committee, which oversees PPNYC’s endowment. From 2002 to 2009, he served as chair of that committee.
From 1994 until 2008, Jack was a member of the board of the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina, and served on the Finance and Investment Committees.

Jessica Mayberry – The Founder and Executive Director of Video Volunteers. She started the organization in September, 2003, after spending a year training rural Indian women in filmmaking as a Fellow of the American India Foundation. A videojournalist impressed with the rapid spread of inexpensive cameras around the developing world, Jessica believes that video technology can empower the poor (women especially) to find voice. She has extensive experience on the ground in India training communities in video production, and has since evolved Video Volunteers to emphasize capacity building, sustainability and community ownership. Prior to that Jessica worked in television in New York at Court TV, the Fox News Channel, and CNN. She is a fellow of Echoing Green, an organization that identifies the leading young social entrepreneurs around the world, and was recognized as an “Architect of the Future” by the Waldzell Institute of Austria. Jessica has spoken about Video Volunteers’ work in numerous settings, including Stanford Business School, the NYU and Berkeley Journalism Schools, and Oxford and Canterbury Universities in the UK. She serves on the board of Free the Children, the world’s largest organization of “Children Helping Children” and on the Advisory Council of Counterpart International. She received her BA in Modern History and Modern Languages from Oxford University in 1999.
Freeman Murray – Freeman has worked in the high tech industry in California and India for the past 12 years. He worked in the Java group at Sun Microsystems and at a variety of startups including IUMA, Mixercast and Kendara which he co-founded and sold to Excite@Home in 2000. In 2001 he set up the Murray Internet and Education Fund through which he has provided support for numerous tech related education projects like Curriki.org, the Digital Studyhall, Video Volunteers and the Vigyan Ashram.
Michael Rosenblum – Media Consultant and creator of the videojournalism style of news reporting. In addition to establishing NY1 news’ pioneering form of news reporting, he has trained 100s of journalists at the BBC and elsewhere. Through VV, Mr. Rosenblum is bringing his training methods to the developing world as a tool in social change.
Martha Spanninger – Martha Spanninger is a Peabody award-winning documentary producer and broadcast journalist with more than twenty-five years of experience. Her career has included assignments with PBS (“Now on PBS”), ABC (“20/20″), NBC (“Dateline”), CBS (“CBS Reports” “West 57th”) & MTV, and numerous independent projects. From 2005 – 2008 she served as the Senior Supervising Producer of NOW on PBS, the weekly public affairs broadcast created by Bill Moyers. She is currently traveling across Highway 50 with Tom Brokaw in search of American Character for a documentary that will air on USA Network in January 2010. She’s worked with other top correspondents including Ed Bradley, Katie Couric, Jane Pauley, Morley Safer, Diane Sawyer, and Meredith Vieira, and broadcast executives Howard Stringer, Jeff Zucker and Andrew Lack. As Senior Producer at ABC News Productions, she oversaw the editorial content and production of over 50 documentaries, winning more than 50 awards. Martha is a graduate of Swarthmore College and serves on the college’s Board of Managers.
Davia Temin – Ms. Temin is President and CEO of global media and marketing strategy, crisis management and coaching consultancy Temin and Company The firm helps to create, enhance and save reputations for large companies, foundations, universities, professional services firms, and corporate boards and leaders. A graduate of Swarthmore College and Columbia, and former Trustee of Swarthmore, she is currently First Vice Chairman of the Board of Girl Scouts USA, White House Project, Women’s Enews and and several other media organizations.
